This year’s BCEFW began with Budapest’s iconic venues
The Budapest Central European Fashion Week has started. This year, it will conquer Budapest’s most iconic locations. The three-day fashion weekend begins in the Royal Riding Hall, and then the Museum of Fine Arts will house the shows and the seven designers’ exhibitions. The list of the capital’s imposing buildings does not end here: Deák Palace hosts exhibitions by five more designers.
The Budapest Central European Fashion Week, the main fashion event of the Central European region, has started. For the first time this year, the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency realises it before the fashion week season, between the 31st of January and the 6th of February. During the BCEFW Pre-Fall Collection, 4–6 February, an exclusive experience awaits the audience: they can see a limited selection of the designers’ newest collections before the international fashion weeks in the capital’s iconic buildings, live.
The catwalk show presenting the 2022/23 autumn-winter collections will be realised over three days in two locations, the Royal Riding Hall and the Museum of Fine Arts. We can see ten sets from each of the 19 Hungarian and two Polish designers on the BCEFW catwalk.
The fashion show will start on the 4th of February, on a Friday in one of the best-known historical sites of the capital. The impressive building of the Royal Riding Hall will host the shows, designed in the late 19th century by Alajos Hauszmann, architect of the Buda Castle. In the following two days, 5–6 February, the designers and their newest pieces will move to other touristically attractive locations in the city since BCEFW’s event will continue in the Museum of Fine Arts on Heroes’ Square.
The collaboration between the Museum of Fine Arts and the HFDA is an excellent opportunity to consciously exploit existing connections and further develop them since their common goals include improving the touristic appeal of Hungary and supporting the creativity of Hungarian creative industry brands and designers. The museum’s fascinating spaces and the exhibited artworks can inspire and motivate anyone visiting the Museum during the event.
Besides the fashion shows, numerous side events will be realised all around Budapest. As an accentuated side event, five Hungarian brands’ exhibitions can be viewed in the Deák Palace on the Fashion Street and in the Museum of Fine Arts, also known as the venue of the fashion shows, seven brands, among which brands designing different accessories and jewellery will exhibit. Thus the historic building with its baroque architecture in the heart of the city centre will be the third iconic venue of the event.
This year’s BCEFW thus allows designers to present the next season’s determining pieces among the walls of the capital’s renowned buildings. International professionals, buyers, and press staff visiting Hungary because of the event can get to know our country’s buildings with a significant tourist attraction and the unmatched beauties of Budapest.
In addition to the iconic sites, the Agency conquers the online space as well during this week. In the digital world of the Metaverse, it offers further shopping experience with a virtual store, entering which we can get an idea about contemporary Hungarian pieces, which can be obtained with just one click on the Budapest Select Concept Store’s website.
