Ten Hungarian product designers debut at Downtown Design, the main event of Dubai Design Week
After the appearances in Europe, the talented Hungarian product designers are targeting the Middle East with their creations. In November, ten talented domestic design brands are representing Hungary at the Downtown Design event, one of the main events of the Dubai Design Week. In the framework of the events realised by Expo 2020 Hungary, the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency aims to organise a week that worthily represents the most excellent Hungarian fashion and design industry creators.
In the framework of Expo 2020 held between the 1st of October 2021 and the 31st of March 2022, the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency (HFDA) aims to organise a week that celebrates creativity and incentivises innovation. Among the programmes realised by Expo 2020 Hungary are the Agency’s design events, which provide an opportunity for Hungary’s talented product designers to showcase the country’s traditions and culture through their design objects and to present their work to 25 million visitors from around the world.
Besides, in collaboration with cultural and touristic sectors, the HFDA places great emphasis on exerting a positive effect on the country’s image and its touristic appeal through different events. Dubai is one of the most important commercial actors of the Western world; thus, by debuting, Hungarian brands can gain a huge advantage on the domestic and regional level as well.
At a dinner on the 7th of November, the HFDA will provide insight into its work for fashion and design industry professionals, the press, distributors, and influencers present. This will be followed by one of the most important events of the international design industry, the largest creative festival of the Middle East, where Hungary’s product designers will also display their works. The Downtown Design, one of the main events of the official Dubai Design Week, is held between the 8th and the 12th of November. Hungarian design brands – ERROR N’ MORE, Forms Design, Zsuzsanna Horvath, Leits Miklós, Loomiosa, Oleant, Paper Up!, Planbureau, POSITION Collective and sarakele – will display their unconventional creations under the unified Budapest Select umbrella brand. Owing to the umbrella brand, designers receive a much more intensive and efficient appearance than they would on their own. Besides, the umbrella brand contributes to the continuous strengthening of the country’s and the capital’s fame, as a result of which Budapest can become the sustainable fashion and design centre of the Central-European region.
The Hungarian design brands will also appear in the Hungarian Pavilion, as the visitors of the World Expo will even be able to buy the products of Hungarian designers in the gift shop operating in the pavilion.
