Seven Hungarian brands debut at the Milano Fashion Week
Those interested can meet Hungarian designers’ contemporary works incorporating Central European heritage at the Milano Fashion Week for the seventh time now. The guests can visit the Fashion HUB exhibition space for almost one whole week, where seven Hungarian brands’ – ABODI, CUKOVY, Elysian, Kata Szegedi, NINI, THEFOUR and ZSIGMOND – AW22/23 collections will be displayed. Moreover, four brands’ creations will be exhibited on the Budapest Select Collective Fashion Show’s runway. Besides the debuting of talents of the joint International Mentoring Programme of the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency and the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, the Buyers Award winner CUKOVY brand will show its newest pieces in an individual fashion show.
After the Hungarian fashion week, Hungarian designers target Milan: seven Hungarian brands present the newest pieces of their 2022/23 autumn-winter collections at the Milano Fashion Week. Those interested can view the pieces of ABODI, CUKOVY, Elysian, Kata Szegedi, NINI, THEFOUR and ZSIGMOND for almost one whole week, between 22–28 February in Milan.
“Thanks to the strategic agreement of the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana and our Agency, it is the seventh time that Hungarian talents can participate in the Milano Fashion Week in the framework of the International Mentoring Programme. We are incredibly proud of our designers since, besides debuting on international runways, their creations appear in the Fashion HUB exhibition space, thanks to which the international audience can discover our country’s creativity and the uniqueness in Hungarian creations” – said Zsófia Bata-Jakab, the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency’s CEO.
Four brands can prove their talents at the Budapest Select Collective Fashion Show’s catwalk on the 26th of February, where they will showcase sets of their newest collections. The international audience can meet an exceptional selection of contemporary Hungarian fashion: among the debutants, there is ABODI, presenting pieces inspired by the Transylvanian heritage; Elysian, radiating femininity and timeless elegance; Kata Szegedi, combining architectural and modern lines; and THEFOUR, drawing inspiration from a mix of traditions and innovation. The designers prepare for the show with the assistance of the internationally acclaimed stylist, Paolo Turina, again, who helps them put together the sets and choose the right accessories for the special occasion.
Besides the catwalks, the Fashion Hub’s exhibition room will also fill with Hungarian design pieces during the fashion week. At the exhibition, in addition to the four Hungarian designers presenting at the fashion show, three designers will appear – CUKOVY, NINI and ZSIGMOND – thus, altogether, the international audience can view the works of seven Hungarian brands in the building of ADI Design Museum.
In addition, CUKOVY will hold their individual presentation on the 25th of February, for which they previously won the Buyers Award, the highest professional recognition of buyers. CUKOVY offering modern garments is famous for its quality puffer jackets filled with goose down, which provide unicity to the customers with their interchangeable elements.
At the Milano Fashion Week, the Hungarian brands appear under the HFDA’s umbrella brand for the seventh time now. With the unified appearance, the Agency aims to offer a more intensive total effect to the Hungarian products so that they will leave a stronger impression on wholesalers and professionals visiting the event. The Budapest Select umbrella brand proved its worth in the last seasons as well: it made designers’ works easily identifiable and attractive by emphasising the strengths of contemporary Hungarian fashion.

About the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency
The Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency was established in 2018 with the goal of providing efficient and structured support to all players in the fashion and design industry along predefined strategic pillars, namely, professional coordination, improving the availability and commercial opportunities of Hungarian products, education development and production development. In order to achieve these objectives, the agency organises national events every year, such as the Budapest Central European Fashion Week, the region's key fashion event, and the international award-winning 360 Design Budapest exhibition. It also provides opportunities for Hungarian designers to exhibit and showcase their work at professional events abroad, such as Milan Fashion Week and the Maison&Objet design fair. The agency’s priorities include strategic cooperation with professional organisations, increasing exports and supporting the professional development of domestic brands through mentoring programmes.
Milano Fashion Week
The Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency acts as a coordinating centre for sharing information and knowledge, as well as for the exploration and realisation of opportunities for cooperation, among the different players in the industry. An important part of its role in the industry is fashion diplomacy, which aims to develop professional relationships and strategic partnerships with fashion centres in other countries. The agency concluded an agreement with the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana in 2018, which enables the Chamber of Italian Fashion to act as a strategic partner, providing support for Hungarian fashion to evolve and enter the international market. Under the parties' jointly launched International Mentoring Programme, a number of brands will be showcased at Milan Fashion Week each season under the umbrella brand ‘Budapest Select’, created by the agency, allowing designers to get more exposure through consistent communication while maintaining their own brand identity when presented abroad.
