Sára Kele’s Works to Shine at Multiple Locations During Milan Design Week

Sára Kele, an outstanding figure in contemporary Hungarian design, presents her works in two distinct exhibitions during Milan Design Week. The designer’s ‘SPEKTRUM’ carpet collection and ‘PONTUM’ furniture line were included in the world-famous curator Rossana Orlandi’s personal selection for the RoCollectible2025 exhibition. Meanwhile, the 'FLORA' seating piece will debut at the WORTH2025 exhibition, focusing on innovations in sustainable design.

Milan Design Week showcases the most current and stylish trends in contemporary design every year – and year after year, the Hungarian creative scene is represented with an increasingly prominent presence. Sára Kele is no stranger to the international scene, with her works displayed on prestigious design platforms across the globe, from Barcelona to Rome and New York. Her pieces have earned numerous national and international awards, including the Red Dot Best of the Best and the GOOD DESIGN® recognitions.

The pieces of the ‘PONTUM’ furniture line, developed in the design LAB incubation programme and curated by Rossana Orlandi, will also be on display in the design week selection of the Milan-based gallery owner. In addition, the SPEKTRUM carpet collection, unveiled this year, has also caught the attention of the design expert and will be on display at the Rossana Orlandi Gallery, at Via Matteo Bandello 16 in Milan, from April 8 to 13 during Milan Design Week. The carpet draws on personal inspiration as the patterns were based on drawings by Sára’s older son. The carpets translate the pure, instinctive gestures of a child’s perspective into the language of contemporary design. Each piece plays with the alternation of micro and macro patterns, as well as varying thread thickness, resulting in a distinctive and tactile surface. The PONTUM solid wood furniture collection was inspired by the bridges of Budapest; translated into the language of objects, it reflects the strength inherent in bridges, often with direct references to their form. The collection's minimalist aesthetics parallel the architectural solutions of bridges while also reflecting the importance of connection and building bridges between people.

The brand-new FLORA seating, debuting at the WORTH2025 exhibition, is an object built on experimental material use, created through testing biodegradable, innovative surfaces. The piece was developed as a collaboration between Sára Kele and sustainability expert Marion Duzon. The FLORA seating will be showcased in Milan's Isola district at the ZONA K gallery, where it will be on display from April 8 to 13. The exhibition will officially open on April 8 at 6:00 PM, and the event is open to the public without prior registration.

Sára Kele graduated as an industrial designer, yet her design approach has been influenced by other disciplines, such as architecture, aesthetics, and cultural anthropology. She typically experiments with new materials by combining traditional craftsmanship techniques with modern manufacturing solutions. She pays special attention to sustainability considerations and encourages manufacturers to adopt a responsible approach. Her design style is characterised not by cold minimalism but by playfulness, warmth, and functionality.

In recent years, the designer has participated in several programmes of the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency, including the design SPEED mentoring programme and the design LAB incubation programmes. Additionally, her products have been showcased multiple times at design weeks in Paris, Dubai, and Milan under the Budapest Select umbrella brand.
