Hungarian designers participate in Milano Fashion Week for the third time

Within the framework of their strategic partnership, the participants of the joint international mentoring programme of the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency (HFDA) and Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI) will present their collections during Milano Fashion Week for the third time - both on the runway and in the Fashion Hub. On 27th of January a Budapest Select showroom was inaugurated, presenting the collections of the five Hungarian designers under the Budapest Select umbrella brand, and will be open until the 10th of March.

A three-year long strategic agreement was signed between the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency and the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana in August 2018. In the framework of the collaboration, the industry leader fashion chamber actively assists and mentors the development of five Hungarian emerging designers. The international mentoring programme contributes to develop the business knowledge of the designers and help them to enter the international market and prepare them for international success.

Through B2B meetings, one-on-one sessions, workshops and factory visits, the five mentees have learnt about product development, brand management and communication, business planning and branding, based on their individual needs. After taking part in the international mentoring programme and following the guidance and advises of their mentors, the collections of the Hungarian brands are now at such a high level in both quality and creativity, that they can stand their ground in any international showroom. Last year, Elysian won the Buyers Award 2019 and as an emphasized mentee, this season the brand will have a presentation to on Wednesday February 19th.

The Budapest Select showroom presents the whole collection of the five designers: Abodi, Cukovy, Elysian, Je Suis Belle, Zsigmond Dora menswear. The showroom opened on Via Errico Petrella 22 during Milan Fashion Week and it sells the collections of the fashion designers. The designers’ fall / winter collections with 15 to 20 pieces will also appear in the Fashion Hub with a static exhibition section at a new location in Museo della Permanente from Wednesday, February 19th to Monday, February 24th staging the finest items of the designers.

“We are extremely thrilled to be here for the third time in a row and we are also excessively proud of our designers to go through such a magnificent progress and development thanks to the mentoring programme. The Budapest Select showroom will hold the best elements of the collections and will be accessible during the entire Milan Fashion Week “– said Zsófia Bata-Jakab, the CEO of the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency. She added that the launch of the dedicated showroom means that the international market is now acknowledging the creativity and potential in the Hungarian brands, which is contributing to Hungary’s image.

Based on international best practices, Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency founded the Budapest Select umbrella brand to provide support for Hungarian products. This was an important step to help brands showcase themselves and communicate in a coordinated, unified style, giving a much stronger impression rather than the brands would appear on their own. Both fashion brands and designer products are present under this name abroad, while simultaneously retaining their unique traits.

To secure a successful presence in the international fashion and design scene, it is beneficial for a brand to be present at least three times at an event and Milan Fashion Week AW2021 will be the third time that the mentees present their collections at the showrooms and catwalk of the Italian fashion capital and show the process they have made during the course of their mentorship.
