Hungarian designers conquering the Maison&Objet design fair once again
The most prestigious interior design fair in Paris, the renowned Maison&Objet, has opened its doors showcasing the unique creations of 10 talented Hungarian designers under the unified Budapest Select umbrella brand of the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency. In parallel to the event, an exhibition of outstanding quality and innovative design objects created in the framework of the design LAB incubation programme will also be on display at the French Design Institute during Paris Design Week.
One of the main strategic objectives of the Agency is to strengthen the international availability of Hungarian products, thereby contributing to the economic stability of the brands and promoting their export potential. During this autumn, the Agency launches a series of targeted programmes to promote its brands and it will provide an opportunity for participation at several events in Budapest, abroad and digitally as part of the Fashion & Design Autumn. The first and foremost international design event is the Maison&Objet design fair.
This year's Maison&Objet, the central event of Paris Design Week, will take place between 9-13 September and is considered one of the three most significant interior design events in Europe. The five-day trade fair attracts nearly 100,000 people every year, mostly retailers, manufacturers and distributors, who are specifically looking for new brands. Thus, Hungarian designers have the opportunity to show their innovative and sustainable original designs made with a progressive vision for the professional audience. Designers, chosen by the professional jury, present a unique selection of notable fresh Hungarian design pieces of furniture, interior design, lighting fixtures and ceramics.
The excellent Hungarian designs are installed in the Signature Hall this year, which is essentially known as the hall of trendsetter brands. In the 70-square-metre exhibition venue, the works of 10 talented designers, including five products made as part of the HFDA design LAB programme, are shown at the Budapest Select stand. This year’s stand concept uses creative solutions to divide the space functionally, further promoting, accentuating and highlighting these special design objects. The concept design is mostly characterized by a rough use of materials, as well as playful, mysterious features, walking through which one can discover the masterpieces of each designer one by one, without visual distractions. The stand also includes a dedicated virtual section, where - with the help of VR headsets - visitors can get a glimpse into the digital spaces of the 360 Design Budapest exhibition, which has won five international awards so far.
In addition to the Budapest Select stand, the series of works by the seven designer-manufacturer duos participating in HFDA’s first design LAB incubation program will be showcased at the gallery of the Le French Design, by the organization of the Valorisation de l'Innovation dans l'Ameublement (VIA), the French design institute, at the same time as the design fair takes place.
“Maison&Objet is an excellent opportunity for Hungarian designers to arouse the interest of foreign customers and thus pave the way for an entry into the international market. This year’s exhibition is indeed an important opportunity for them, as following a long-lasting absence they shall attend the community of the international stakeholders once again, thus building valuable relationships to resort to in the future. The event opens up brand new perspectives for the participating designers, allowing them to not only experience beneficial changes but also increase sales revenue abroad. These processes are also assisted by an on-site sales representative of Our agency”, highlighted Zsófia Bata-Jakab, CEO of the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency.
This autumn, the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency will focus on fashion and design, inspiration and creativity during the Fashion & Design Autumn event series. In this period the most excellent events await those who are interested in the creative industries and showcase local, regional and international fashion and industrial designers, creative thinkers and experts.
