Huge interest in the HFDA’s Vocational Training Development Support Programme roadshow in Pécs
Following last year’s success, the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency’s Vocational Training Development Support Programme is realised again this year, with the participation of Startup Campus and the Budapest Complex Vocational Training Centre as cooperative partners. The HFDA promotes the “Get in the Picture – New Talent of the Year” tender in a national roadshow in vocational schools which are already in partnership with the Agency. The first roadshow in the countryside was held in Pécs, on the 11th of November, to the great joy of local primary and vocational schools.
Rethinking last year’s programme, in 2022, the tender was announced under the title “Get in the Picture – New Talent of the Year”, and it focuses on talent management, inspiration, and creativity development of the professionals of the future, with the aim of creating a tradition. The HFDA decided to exploit the synergies in fashion, design, and creative professions considering market needs and changes in the profession, so the tender is open for applications from teams of full-time students in creative, fashion and design industry vocational training between the ages of 14 and 21, who want to draw attention to the interesting part of the creative industry professions with their innovative creations, inspiring ideas, or community engagement.
The 2022 “Get in the Picture! – New Talent of the Year” tender’s topic is Industrial Revolutions – From the Sewing Machine to Robots, in which, applicants can freely interpret previous industrial revolutions’ determining characteristics. When creating the entries, different materials and techniques can be used to convey the topic’s atmosphere, memorable motives, the world of forms, or big inventions of the known industrial revolutions from the steam engine to the metaverse. The Agency promotes the tender in a national roadshow, providing a comprehensive picture for students about the goals of the Fashion and Design Industry Vocational Training Development Support Programme such as prestige building, introducing possibilities in creative industry jobs, or awareness-raising.
The roadshow started in the Budapest Complex Vocational Training Centre in September, and the second event was held in November, at the Angster József Vocational School's career guidance open day in Pécs. The event was attended by 6th-7th-8th grade students from the neighbouring schools who are about to choose a career and students from the vocational school that hosted the event. As a start the students were introduced to the Agency's work and programmes, the presentation mentioned the career paths and employment opportunities in the creative industry, among other things. The awareness-raising presentation was complemented by an interactive quiz, in which the students participated with great enthusiasm.
Afterwards, Tamás Trunk (Dablty), an expert on Generation Z and YouTuber showed students the criteria for success in newly built brands through international examples, while also focusing on sustainability. The roadshow was concluded by a programme concentrating on manual dexterity and creativity, in which, students could have a look into the world of embroidery in the school's sewing workshop, led by Fanni Szaszák, the creator of Fankapanka. The programme paid special attention to the topic of sustainability, so previously worn-out clothes were transformed into something new on the dressmaking tables by the students using embroidery techniques. The roadshow, which is to be continued next year, was proven successful both by the crowded room and the high level of interest in the “Get in the Picture! – New Talent of the Year” tender at the venue.
