Fashion Will Take the Main Stage in the Capital Again: BCEFW Is Coming Soon!

The Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency (HFDA) will organise the Budapest Central European Fashion Week (BCEFW) for the thirteenth time, between the 22nd and the 28th of January 2024. The main venue of the fashion week will be the Museum of Fine Arts, and the colourful programs of the Fashion Hub focusing especially on Gen Z will be housed in the building of Hungarian Art and Business on Andrássy Avenue. The event will present a meeting between traditions and modernity, preserving values and a contemporary spirit to a broad audience.

The Budapest Central European Fashion Week has become one of the most important fashion events of the Central European region in the last few years, the number-one meeting point between industry professionals, buyers, designers and the domestic and international media.

More than 20 brands will debut in the program series to be held between the 22nd and the 28th of January. The categories will be established based on the professional principles introduced in the previous season, and the criteria system created by the Advisory Board, which supports the event. The audience can meet not only Hungarian but also regional designers’ works in line with the goal of creating a bridge between the region’s countries on the professional scene. The central event enhanced by the presence of regional brands creates an opportunity to increase creative industry exports, debuting is also a springboard for the brands to international markets. The catwalk shows and collective shows will unfold in an outstanding place of Hungarian and universal artistic heritage, the Museum of Fine Arts.

The audience met the Fashion Hub concept for the first time in the previous season. Following the professional practice of international fashion weeks, the free, thematic programs present the world of fashion in an informal manner. Throughout the BCEFW, the Fashion Hub awaits visitors in the Hungarian Art and Business building on Andrássy Avenue. The professional presentations, workshops on sustainability and technological innovations, and roundtable discussions mean to target Gen Z and young people and inspire them towards fashion.

‘An accentuated goal of the HFDA’s strategy is to strengthen the domestic fashion and design industry’s position regionally, and events held for this purpose also increase the country’s touristic appeal. The choice of the BCEFW’s venue is beneficial from the perspective of the country’s image as well since those interested, the international professional audience, and media representatives will see one of the most important tourist centres of the capital when they pay a visit to the Museum of Fine Arts, the City Park, Heroes’ Square and the HAB building on Andrássy Avenue’ – said Zsófia Jakab, the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency’s CEO.

The BCEFW’s venues and programs combine value preservation and modernity. The Museum of Fine Arts carries the message of artistic heritage and the Fashion Hub puts the new generation in the centre. In addition to establishing crucial professional principles and concepts with the intent of creating a tradition, the event is continuously renewed and diversifies its programs. Beyond being one of the most determining regional fashion industry events, it brings about an exciting meeting between past and present inspiration.

About the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency

The Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency was founded in 2018 to support every actor in the fashion and design industry in an efficient and structured way, following predetermined strategic pillars: professional coordination, enhancing Hungarian brands’ availability and trade opportunities, educational development and manufacturing development. To realise its goals, the HFDA organises domestic events each year, such as the region’s major fashion event, the Budapest Central European Fashion Week, or the 360 Design Budapest exhibition, which has received international awards. Besides, they provide Hungarian creators opportunities for participation and debuting at international professional events such as the Milano Fashion Week or the Maison&Objet and the Milan Design Week design fairs. Their primary tasks include strategic cooperation with professional organisations, increasing exports, and supporting Hungarian brands’ professional development with their mentoring programmes.

Budapest Central European Fashion Week

Since its foundation in 2018, the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency has organised the Budapest Central European Fashion Week twice a year, the main fashion event of the Central European region. For many years now, the event has been the number-one meeting point between the broad audience, buyers, designers, influencers and domestic and international media in the region. Hungarian fashion and design industry events increase the country’s tourist attractiveness and national economic growth, provide visibility for Hungarian brands, and may result in international orders. The Agency’s accentuated goal is to connect the Hungarian fashion and design industry to the international professional flow and, in the long run, turn Budapest into a regional centre, strengthening the country’s image.
