Everyone Can Find a Program To Their Liking Among the Budapest Design Week Event Series

The Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency (HFDA) is organising the Budapest Design Week between the 10th and the 20th of October 2024 with exciting programs at over 100 venues in the capital and Hungarian cities. The event series aims to present the diversity of Hungarian design and its impact on many areas of life. Highlighted events, side events, workshops, open showrooms, and galleries will await the audience among the over 100 events.

Organising the Budapest Design Week was added to the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency’s scope of duties in August 2024. The Agency further enhances the largest domestic design event with its extensive domestic and international network of contacts and the experiences gained at home and abroad while keeping in mind the promotion of the Hungarian creative industry ecosystem. The event series aims to offer educational and compelling content to everyone, regardless of age or professional experience.

The colourful program calendar of Budapest Design Week offers opportunities for all ages and interests to explore the world of contemporary design between the 10th and the 20th of October 2024. A multitude of side events, highlights, partner events and workshops enrich the schedule.

On the opening day, on the 10th of October, the ELLE EDIDA award ceremony will be held, acknowledging the best and most inspiring artists of the Hungarian design scene. The event’s goal is to promote Hungarian talents and their products. The building of ArtHAB (Hungarian Art & Business) will host several art events as a key venue during Design Week, including the BDW Roundtable, which will welcome representatives from the design industry and related sectors, discussing collaborations and future professional opportunities.

The central exhibition of the Budapest Design Week, 360 Design Budapest, will be available in the former waiting room of Nyugati Railway Station between the 15th and the 20th of October. The exhibition, held for the fifth time, presents artists from domestic and international contemporary design and industrial art in a broader selection than ever before.

Art Market Budapest, the fine arts partner of Budapest Design Week, awaits the audience to Millenáris to an international contemporary art fair between the 17th and the 20th of October, where visitors can pick and choose from the newest domestic and international artworks. Those who want to take home a piece of Hungarian design and crafts can find the perfect piece at the design fair by the Independent Contemporary Art Salon (FIKSZ).

In addition to Budapest, the Budapest Design Week programs will be available in other cities as well: The Sopron Design Week and DesignPécs programme series will also familiarise those interested with the diversity and local characteristics of Hungarian design. Printed program catalogues placed at the side event venues will aid navigation among the various possibilities offered by the BWD event calendar.
