Designers participating in the HFDA programs have been nominated for the EDIDA 2023

In seven categories, the most outstanding representatives of the Hungarian design world are awarded the prestigious EDIDA, referred to as the "Oscars of the industry," which will be held for the second time in 2023 by ELLE Decoration magazine. In categories such as Product of the Year, Brand of the Year, Young Talent of the Year, and Sustainable Initiative of the Year, we can encounter several familiar names who have also had successful appearances in the programs of HFDA. The awards will be presented in a ceremonial event, and following last year's tradition, Anita Forintos-Szűcs, Deputy General CEO of HFDA, will present the Young Talent of the Year award on behalf of the Agency.

The Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency (HFDA) organizes numerous programs and events to support the participants of the Hungarian design world, promote their work, and enhance the international recognition of Hungarian design, as well as Hungary's central role in the region. It is a tremendous recognition that among the Hungarian nominees for the internationally renowned EDIDA, known as the design Oscars, several designers have previously participated in exhibitions, mentorship, and incubation programs organized by HFDA. ELLE Decoration International Design Awards, also known as EDIDA, launched in 2003, is a unique international event in the contemporary design scene. Each year, the editors-in-chief of ELLE Decoration magazines recommend designers and projects and select the most outstanding works and talents of the year. In 2023, the 20th edition of the awards will be held in Hungary for the second time in the fall.

HFDA is the sponsor of the Young Talent of the Year category, with two designers nominated whose products were showcased at the Milan Design Week within the Alcova exhibition in 2023. Debóra Horák and Dávid Godzsák, under the umbrella brand Budapest Select created by the Agency, presented their creations to the audience in Milan. The award in this category will be presented by Anita Forintos-Szűcs, Deputy General CEO of MDDÜ, at the formal award ceremony in the fall.

Among the nominees in the Sustainable Initiative of the Year category, four out of five products have been exhibited through the organization of HFDA. Sára Kele's Repeta collection was created within the design LAB incubation program of the Agency in 2022. The concrete collection, a collaboration between SARAKELE STUDIO and CONCRAZY, focusing on circularity, also found its place in the internationally acclaimed Rossana Orlandi Gallery in 2023. The MOON by DBE.Furniture furniture collection made from recycled aluminum was presented at the Milan Design Week's Alcova exhibition under the Budapest Select brand created by the Agency, where one of Zsuzsanna Deák's recycled glass objects from RE-built Glass Doors was also on display. The glass sliding doors were also showcased at the 360 Design Budapest exhibition in 2022, alongside the SoundWool Acoustic panels. The panel collection made from recycled wool was a result of the collaboration between Temesi Apol and Meshlin Composites Zrt., one of the manufacturer-designer pairs from HFDA’s design LAB program of 2021.

Among the nominees in the Brand of the Year category, the Beat tables by Hannabi, designed in the spirit of organic minimalism, were also showcased at the 360 Design Budapest in 2022. In the same exhibition in 2021, the creations of Komok, former design START mentees, were also featured. Their visual concept was positively evaluated by the professional jury in the design LAB created by Rossana Orlandi program, which may allow them to participate in the incubation program in collaboration with a manufacturer partner. KAVICS, made in collaboration between Fülöp Fruzsina and VPI Beton – nominated for brand of the year - announced the freedom of form under the Budapest Select umbrella brand in Milan at Alcova in 2023.

In the Product of the Year category, three nominated objects were also presented to the international audience by HFDA. The creators of the NÁMI lounge beds, Petra Pinezits and Alexandra Takács, showcased their work in 2022 under the NORNA brand as part of the design START mentorship program of HFDA. The NÁMI bed was exhibited at the 360 Design Budapest in 2022 and at the Milan Design Week's Alcova in 2023, attracting the interest of visitors. One of the most popular products from the Design LAB program of 2022 was the innovative PEACH armchair, a collaboration between designer Annabella Hevesi and the Kárpitos Partner Group, which received significant press coverage and caught the attention of international audiences at Alcova, Budapest Select exhibition this year. During the Milan Design Week, Anna Szőnyi and Timbart's collaborative work, the ZEN table, was also presented in Rossana Orlandi Gallery. The renowned gallerist personally selected the piece from the Budapest Select collection of the Agency.

HFDA continues to work on optimizing its extensive programs to ensure the creation of such commendable appearances and achievements in the future.
