Creative Festival at SZIN – Craft, Design, and Experiences at Millenáris
One of the most unique events of the St. Stephen’s Day celebrations returns this year: on 19–20 August, the Creative Festival will reopen its doors. An expanded version of the former Fashion and Design Festival, it now offers an even more diverse programme for visitors in Millenáris Building D. The two-day festival, organised by the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency, brings together the cream of the creative industry, featuring beauty and gaming industry players for the first time.
The Saint Stephen’s Day programme series celebrates Hungary’s birthday, the founding of the state. This multi-day event is Hungary’s most significant cultural programme series, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors to Budapest each year. In addition to the largest fireworks display in Europe, visitors can enjoy cultural programmes, concerts, gastronomic experiences, and various entertainment options.
The Creative Festival takes place amid the vibrant celebrations of this major national holiday, serving as a contemporary, design-focused highlight of the state-organised programme and introducing the public to a wide spectrum of the creative industries.
Visitors can choose from over twenty different interactive workshops and creative activities, including ceramic mural making, tufting, sustainable sewing, leathercraft, board games, natural cosmetics, bath salts, jewellery making, LED fashion character design, and much more. The programmes are open to children and adults alike. No prior experience is needed to join the programmes – just curiosity!
The festival aims to showcase creative industry professions in a playful and immersive way, providing a space to experience the joy of crafting while offering insight into the world of design and material culture. Beyond the workshops, visitors can also explore numerous exhibitors showcasing unique products from Hungarian designers and brands, many of which are available to purchase on site.
A special event: a collaborative painting inspired by the iconic Danube riverside skyline, where participants create their own festive vision together.
