Budapest Select Presentation Thrived as a Creative Hub at Milan Fashion Week
On the 19th of September 2024, Hungarian brands made their eleventh appearance at Milan Fashion Week under the Budapest Select umbrella brand. The exclusive Budapest Select Presentation showcased the exceptional brands of the Hungarian fashion and creative industries and the emerging talents at the Casa degli Artisti in an expanded concept. The Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency (HFDA) transformed the venue into a creative community space for the event, providing an excellent opportunity to build new professional connections. The Budapest Select Presentation was realised with the support of the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI).
Organised by the HFDA, the event returned with a new, expanded concept, presenting a cross-section of the domestic creative industry through an eclectic selection. The experience-based presentation took place in Casa degli Artisti, introducing Hungarian brands and artists to regional and international experts. This exclusive format allowed domestic fashion, design, and beauty industry brands, along with emerging designers, to showcase their works. The event, held in the evening, offered multiple opportunities for establishing new professional relationships, enabling guests to view the exhibited pieces up close and inquire personally with the designers.
The Budapest Select Presentation’s venue was in the heart of Milan at the Casa degli Artisti art hub, where five Hungarian fashion brands – BORBALA, CUKOVY, KATA SZEGEDI, NANUSHKA and ZSIGMOND – presented their newest collections for the 2025 spring-summer season. The HFDA also provided a platform for emerging talents: JUDIT BÁRÁNY, CHOKASSY, and SOLÆR made their first appearance at Milan Fashion Week.
The synergies between fashion, design, and contemporary arts further enhanced the event’s overall impact. In the Budapest Select Presentation, the works by numerous outstanding product designers and artists were showcased, including &Famke, Anna Cserba, Balázs Veres, David Nemeth, ERROR N' MORE, HORA, Julia Nema, KOMONKA, Meander, Mónika Üveges, Nora Szirmai, Petra Szondi, sarakele studio, Studio Arkitekter and UTO. From the beauty industry, the luxury skincare brand Omorovicza played a significant role, while flavours of Hungarian gastronomy and a musical selection enriched the series of experiences.
The Budapest Select Presentation offered a special opportunity for domestic brands to debut in front of an international audience and increase their visibility. Carlo Capasa, the president of CNMI, personally attended the event. Among the invited guests were well-known influencers such as Lin Lin, Olja Ryzevski, and Michela D’Angelo, who shared their experiences on their social media platforms. Editors from prominent fashion magazines, including Vogue Italia, Elle Italia, iO Donna, and NSS also participated in the event to explore the distinctive selection of Hungarian creativity. The event also captured the attention of buyers, with representatives from Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Hay Hay Fashion Concept Store, Studiozeta, and Spazio Showroom viewing the exhibited pieces.
The Budapest Select Presentation showcased the diversity and eclectic energy of the Hungarian creative industry in a unique concept, connecting the creative sector with culture, and presenting a wide selection of fashion, design, and arts to the audience in Milan.
