Budapest Design Week Attracted More Than 20,000 Visitors
Budapest Design Week is the most significant event series in Hungary, spanning the creative industry, with a variety of design programmes in Pécs and Sopron, in addition to the capital. Over 20 thousand people visited the festival’s nearly 130 diverse events in ten days.
The Budapest Design Week (BDW), held between the 10th and the 20th of October 2024, was an especially popular event series again this year. Nearly 130 creative industry programmes provided a varied and exciting pastime for visitors, of which 109 took place in Budapest, 11 in Pécs and 7 in Sopron.
The design week attracted more than 20 thousand visitors who could not only learn about the newest design directions but also actively participate in creative processes. In addition to celebrating design and the creative industry, BDW also placed the work of Hungarian creators, manufacturers, and product designers in the centre. The participants were able to engage in interactive activities, such as creating their own design products, providing an inspiring, hands-on, and creative experience.
The professional programme in Budapest included workshops, fairs, studio visits, lectures, exhibitions, professional presentations, gastronomy and music events, as well as book launches and auctions. A dedicated boat service and the EDIDA awards ceremony added even more colour to the event lineup.
The Sopron Design Week awaited those interested with two exhibitions, an open studio, a book launch and five gastro-design programmes, while DesignPécs featured four exhibitions, four workshops, a fashion show, a professional presentation and a film screening, combining educational and creative activities.
Budapest Design Week and its highlighted event, 360 Design Budapest, were realised in the integrated organisation of the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency, strengthening and complementing each other in elevating Hungarian product design’s international fame and supporting its continuous development.
