Those interested can view the creations of 28 Hungarian, among which six talented entrants, and ten regional design brands from up close between the 4th and the 10th of October for free in Bálna Budapest. 360 Design Budapest’s exhibition of this year represents the creations of designers who are the sparkling pioneers of the product design’s Zeitgeist and capture attention with their fresh impetus. Design fans can view the online and offline exhibitions, participate in exclusive guided tours and educational roundtable discussions. Moreover, they can personally meet the talented creators as part of the “Meet the designer” programme on the second day of the event.

After one year, 360 Design Budapest, the free exhibition dreamt and realised by the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency, representing new, innovative, and sustainable product design directions, opens its gates again.  At the opening ceremony, Zsófia Bata-Jakab, the HFDA’s CEO, Attila Ledényi, founder and director of Art Market Budapest, and Gyula Pomázi, president of the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office gave speeches.

This year’s event’s venue is Bálna Budapest, where contemporary design creations await the audience interested in design for one whole week, between the 4th and 10th October. The event’s goal remains to make Hungarian and regional product designers more widely known, help domestic design brands enter the international market, and draw attention to the everyday role of design surrounding us in 360 degrees.

“This year, in collaboration with various Hungarian and international design events and organisations, we wanted to create a programme which constitutes an outstanding touristic attraction and exhibits Central Europe’s design industry’s cultural diversity in different dimensions. With Art Market Budapest and Budapest Design Week, we support each other as strategic partners, owing to which new possibilities arise for connecting fine arts and applied arts. The second 360 Design Budapest will be held in a bigger area, with more designers, as a total artwork; thus, putting contemporary design’s importance even more in the foreground” – said Zsófia Bata-Jakab, CEO of the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency.

The visitors can discover almost 40 Hungarian and regional product designers’ furniture, lamps, and ceramics. 360 Design Budapest’s exhibition of this year represents creations of designers who capture attention with their handcraft talent, experience in product design, innovative way of thinking, manufacturing resourcefulness, or consciousness. In their work, they perfectly alloy design history’s values with modern directions. Designers could apply to the 2021 exhibition in three categories. Besides innovative design enterprises with a progressive approach for the first time this year, emerging product designer’s first products were also exhibited. In addition, besides Hungarian creators, talents from the V4 countries also debut in the exhibition.

The event exhibits the works of the outstanding actors of the profession in four thematic exhibition areas: erectors/manufacturers, developers/designers, environment- and material-conscious design, and limited series handicrafts products, which can be regarded quasi as objects of art. Like last year, there will be the possibility in 2021 to explore the exhibition’s details and background with 360 Design Budapest’s programme director, Gáspár Bonta, during the guided tours. Furthermore, as a speciality of this year’s show, visitors can sign up for exclusive guided tours held by illustrious representatives of different fields of art, such as Iván András Bojár, art historian; Zita Kraszkó, editor-in-chief chief of Femcafe; József Martinkó, editor-in-chief of Octogon; Zsolna Ugron, author; and Iván Vitáris, musician, creating a total art framework.

Regarding its concept, this year’s 360 Design Budapest finds its way back to nature and focuses on environmentalism and recycling.  The installation elements mainly were made of recycled materials, or the components themselves will be reused later. In the event’s framework, the HFDA Academy: design DIALOG’s educational roundtable discussions consisting of more parts will be held with the participation of Hungarian and regional experts. You can find further information about the exact time and topics of the discussions on the exhibition’s website.
